Here are two versions of my resume. Not sure which one is better.
Resume 1
Resume 2
Not sure if it is better to have all the descriptions under relevant experience or to cut them out and be able to fit more info, like honors and awards and published works. Or should I get rid of one of those headings and put in a skills summary?mood: stressed Currently Spinning: AH.fm - Trance |

it still needs some editing work.
Danyelle Palmer hails from Rochester, New York, the imaging center of the world and home of George Eastman, where she still currently resides. The daughter of average suburbanites, she found escape from the miserable sameness through writing, music, art, and theatre. Danyelle completed her Associate in Art from Finger Lakes Community College in August 2001 for Liberal Arts and sciences, with an emphasis in Music Business. She received her Bachelor of Science from SUNY College at Brockport in August 2005 for Art, with an emphasis in Photography. She also received minors in Creative Writing and Theatre/Costume Design. Her interest in film was sparked by her passion for photography, writing, costume design, theatre, and music, which is all encompassed in the world of film. She lost her self in the classic films of Kubrick, Lang, and Marker and more contemporary films of Tony Scott, Tim Burton, and Danny Boyle. She spent many long days between classes, designing costumes for the latest theatre production, using overnights to work on her photography and editing film. Forced to take a slave job at a café, to pay off her mounting student loans after graduation, Danyelle focused her efforts on screenwriting. She wrote her first full length screenplay partly on napkins during slow periods at the sandwich counter. That same year she decided to apply to a few graduate programs in film and was accepted into the M.F.A. in Screenwriting program at the American Film Institute Conservatory and the M.F.A in Filmmaking program at the New York Film Academy at Universal Studios Hollywood. The price tag turned out to be a bit too hefty, so she decided not to attend. Instead, in 2006, Danyelle had poetry published nationally in Susan B. & Me, an anthology dedicated to Susan B. Anthony. She volunteered at Community Darkroom, teaching photography to high risk inner city youth, and she volunteered as a costume designer at the Allendale Columbia School, designing costumes for their high school productions. Photography, writing, costume design, and music are very much a part of her life to this day, as she continues to challenge herself in all things visual. She loves to capture significant moments with her camera, both still and moving, and tell a story based on her images.mood: stressed Currently Spinning: AH.fm - Trance |

haha, this is funny. ideally I'd like to turn Bronson Aroyo, that would be hot. but he isn't that great of a player, just cute. So, if i was really going to build a better team, I would have to go with david ortiz. It would also be funny to turn A Rod, just to torture him and piss him off! i am a sox fan, not a yankee.

So, I emailed mr. Helmy, the director of the film dept back. i wanted to let him know that i was still working on the portfolio and I also wanted to know if there was anything else I should include. This is his response:
Hi Danyelle,
Thank you for your responsible courtesy.
With those qualities, we can’t meet you soon enough. I’m looking forward to samples of your best-of-the-best work you’ve done to date.
Consider adding the following for a more comprehensive submission:
(This is what is required for the midpoint book too. So if you can provide them now than you will have satisfied those requirements early.)
5. Business Card Your name, title, and contact information should be clearly visible. A sample of your stationary is also required. A sample of your Thank You note can be included, if available.
6. Resume Provide a 1-page resume with your name, title, and contact information, as well as your experience and education to date and other relevant information. It can be a transitional resume listing non-film experience too or it can be a filmography with film credits like the industry standard in the IMDB. 7. Publicity photo Submit a publicity photo (Medium shot or close-up) with you in action (working on a film set with film equipment, or a prop) that illustrates your emphasis. This publicity photo should reflect industry standards to introduce you to the job market in film and television.
8. Autobiography A 1-page autobiography.
Danyelle, with your knowledge in photography you will certainly have a great publicity photo to submit, am I right?
Also your publicity photo and autobiography can be on the same page to be used later in your job search as your publicity packet.
Have a great day.
Kind regards,
Michael

so, after my post yesterday, I figured out that I had an email address at my school that i can use like a regular email. stupid me. i thought my school email was only accessible through my classroom portal, which meant i could only get emails from other students and from faculty, no outside emails. i was exploring my school's website and noticed a link to login to your email account. i logged in and found the email i sent myself from my gmail account months ago, figuring out that i can use it like a real email.
maybe it is new, because i swear when i started last semester, i read that the school email was only for communications with faculty and students, that you couldn't get any outside messages.
anyway, i decided to email the director of the film dept again using my school email. i emailed him weeks ago from my gmail and never received a response. he emailed me back fairly quickly and this is what he had to say: It’s great to hear from you.
It will be a privilege and an honor to review your portfolio at your convenience. You can send it over electronically or you can set up a meeting with me with the paperwork that needs to be signed.
I look forward to your active participation in the film program. So let’s get this process started. I look forward to your call or to your email.
Kind regards,
Michael

1) Have film portfolio ready 2) Photograph brother's senior portraits 3) Fix vanessa/Heather's photos, upload, & get printed 4) Fix mag article and print 5) Photo shoot with Vanessa and Heather 6) Photograph Roc Center and Times buildings 7) Fix website 8) photoshoot with eoj
So this was my list to get done before the baby got here. that's not going to happen. scratch all of that until after the baby gets here. she's going to be strapped to my back, so i can get all these photoshoots done.
anyway, johnny found some work for me to do this week. and i actually get paid for one of them. the first is editing some video for one of his web site clients. the guy needs his logo inserted into his videos at the beginning and end. and he might need a face blurred out. i think he's paying like $300. sweet!!! i'm getting paid to do film editing work!!!! The other work is just for our friend. he just needs raw footage of his band converted to files he can edit with, since he doesn't have FCP or Premier. any work i can get, is practice with Premier, which is awesome.
johnny has been working with this guy who runs a telephone dating service. this guy started it a long time ago, like when i was a teenager. he's made tons of money from it and its still going strong. he's kinda an important guy in rochester and a good one to know. he owns a radio studio downtown, too. and he wants to start a local video/film studio and produce shows. he knows i'm into film and photography, so i hope this leds to somethng big. he hangs out at our house sometimes and the last time he was over i was on hug status when he left. he's a cool guy, a bit hyper and energetic at times, but that's how you make the $.mood: contemplative Currently Spinning: Matisyahu |

I'm going through this Matisyahu phase with his new album coming out next month. i have always loved his music from the moment I first heard King Without a Crown. I love reggae and I love his mix of it with hip hop and rock. I absolutely love his new song, One Day. i find it so inspirational and uplifting every time i listen to it. I can't really think of other bands that make me feel like that. I watched the video for One Day on myspace today and it was pretty cool. He's so spiritual and it just shines in his music. I truly feel like he has transcended to a higher level with his music and spirituality. I'm not a religious person, but I respect others religions as long as its not pushed on me and I think his relationship with his religion is just beautiful and its what makes his music awesome. I also love the song he did with the Crystal Method.
He was supposed to play a show here on tuesday. I wanted to go but I didn't have a babysitter and i'm so pregnant. The show ended being postponed because the venue closed, so maybe when he reschedules I can go. I'm really going to try. He still did an interview on the radio on wednesday and performed a few songs. I'd love to meet him because he seems like someone you could have an intense discussion with. He seems really intelligent and not just some dumb rock star collecting all the fame and fortune.mood: contemplative Currently Spinning: Matisyahu |

friday, we saw the new Johnny Depp film, Public Enemies. It was good, i'm glad I went to see it, of course I thought he did a great job. i cannot wait for The Rum Diary to come out. I have been waiting years for it. i know he's going to do an awesome job.
we were going to bring cain and xander to see Transformers, but they didn't have good days thursday and friday, they kept arguing and not listening. cain is going though this rudeness thing where he's rude to everyone. they were warned that they wouldn't go and they kept misbehaving, so they didn't go. it was nice for us to go out together, since our anniversary was last week. we were still going to see Transformers without them, but then decided that we should see a more adult film since we had the opportunity and Public Enemies was the only film out we wanted to see.
we will attempt to see Tranformers with the kids again soon. we'll see though. i had a doctors appt. today and while i was gone cain and xander got into an argument. cain pulled a pillow out from under xan's head, then they almost got into a fist fight, which they have never done before. i guess they're on another level now. yay. i was upset that i wasn't here to get dillon down for a nap, our time is precious and limited.mood: creative |
